Municipal Infrastructure

We view our role on development projects as a proactive one, to ensure that each work plan is expedited and our clients' needs are perceived as priorities. This philosophy combined with a commitment to open interaction with our clients is unique and has consistently allowed GREENLAND® to achieve methodical, practical, yet often innovative approaches to problem solving, resulting in viable, cost-effective results. We offer a breadth of experience on subdivision designs (grading, servicing and storm water management); site remediation and planning; water and wastewater infrastructure; project management; public consultation; and, construction administration.

As a result of our extensive master servicing plan and environmental assessment experience with water supply, wastewater treatment and stormwater management projects, GREENLAND® developed an adaptable “Pay for Performance and Life-Cycle Cost Public-Private Partnership (PPP)” business model. The model has been used to-date for municipality and First Nation projects. This ecosystem-based approach is now being used for community infrastructure projects involving new GREENLAND® joint ventures. This PPP model can address watershed-wide cumulative impacts and climate change concerns, and including landmark environmental protection requirements from the November 2015 passing (Royal Assent) of Ontario’s Bill 66 (An Act to Protect and Restore the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence River Basin).

Our municipal infrastructure team uses proprietary decision support systems and provides these consulting services:

Drinking Water

  • Source Water Protection, Master Servicing and Environmental Assessment Plans;
  • Water Treatment Plant Studies and Design;
  • Water Pumping Station and Distribution Studies and Design; and,
  • Construction Management and On-going Operational Support.

Wastewater

  • Process Support, Evaluation, Master Servicing and Environmental Assessment Plans;
  • Wastewater Collection, Pumping Station and Wastewater Equalization Studies and Designs;
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant and Stormwater Management Facility Studies and Designs;
  • Biosolids and Landfill Leachate Management Studies and Designs; and,
  • Construction Management and On-going Operational Support.

As each project requires a tailor-made approach, GREENLAND® knows the necessary planning, engineering and consultation tasks. Our team driven solutions serve as ‘blueprints’ for sustainable development.

We have developed many defendable infrastructure designs for urban land growth areas. These solutions have also included rural and recreational aesthetics, as well as economic opportunities afforded by the new development and preservation of ecosystems for the long-term health and benefit of all residents and stakeholders.

Our project approach identifies solutions that serve individual developments and those for the wider community. This provides the basis for effective staging and implementation of provisions for financing (such as our PPP model).

Six Nations Council

On behalf of the Environment Office of the Six Nations of the Grand River, we would like to thank Greenland International Consulting Limited for the work completed to prepare the Master Drainage and Flood Remediation Plan (MDFRP) for the McKenzie Creek watershed. This plan has now enabled our office to identify the flood prone residences throughout the watershed with the flood plain mapping that has been prepared as part of this assignement. We appreciate the role that Greenland has played in assisting our office in directing Public Works with prioritizing the remedial projects to be completed in the flood prone areas.

We also appreciate Greenland's effort in assisting the Six Nations of the Grand River with the preparation of funding applications to secure the resources to complete these remedial works. We are convinced that this MDFRP can be used as a template for completing similar drainage and flood remediation works both locally and in other First Nations lands.

We look forward to working with your company again in the near future on the remaining watersheds that need this important work done.

Thank you for your ongoing assistance.

Communitech

The Greenland Group (Greenland) was introduced to Communitech in 2013. This letter is to acknowledge the importance of this proactive joint venture and to indicate our strong interest in future project partnerships with Greenland and other network members.

Greenland is now supporting other joint initiatives with Communitech. These leading-edge information technology partners will include other private sector members with the Communitech network, as well as Ontario government agencies and First Nation communities. These projects are intended to develop commercialized products and services involving the Greenland Group and other Communitech partners and to enable new Canada-wide related collaborations.

Mark, if any your prospective clients or contacts have questions regarding our collaborative efforts to date, ongoing discussions and project leveraging capabilities, the Communitech team would be more than happy to help.

We look forward to our continued strong collaboration with Greenland.
